Geneva Call is an international humanitarian organisation dedicated to engaging armed non-state actors (NSAs) to respect and to adhere to humanitarian norms, starting with the ban on anti-personnel (AP) mines.
2. Transnational and Non-State Armed Groups Project
The Transnational and Non-State Armed Groups Project is an international and interdisciplinary initiative driven jointly by the Program on Humanitarian Policy and Conflict Research at Harvard University (HPCR) and the Graduate Institute on International Studies in Geneva (HEI). The project aims to examine analytically the place of non-state armed groups within the context of armed conflict, and to identify strategic options as to the legal and policy implications of the contemporary role of these actors.
3. Armed Groups Project
Located at the University of Calgary, the Armed Groups Project is engaged in ongoing policy-relevant research about the instruments available to the international community to curb human rights and humanitarian violations committed by armed groups. The Armed Groups Project is co-directed by Pablo Policzer and David Capie.
Workshop
“Arms, Politics and Violence in Latin America”The Armed Groups Project and the Latin American Research Centre at the University of Calgary will host a workshop entitled “Arms, Politics and Violence in Latin America” on April 25, 2008. A public forum will also be held on the same topic at the Glenbow Museum on April 24 at 7:00 p.m. Both events are supported by the University of Calgary’s Centre for Military and Strategic Studies, Institute for Advanced Policy Research, and Institute for United States Policy Research.
